iPhone X AT&T 4G to LTE Delay

Has anybody noticed a delay in the phone’s transition from 4G to LTE? When I leave my workplace, I’m in an area that I know has LTE. However, the phone connects to 4G instead and takes over a mile of driving distance (approximately 5-8 minutes delay) before the phone decides to transition and connect to LTE. There have been several occasions where I had to forcefully turn off/on the cellular just to force the phone to connect to LTE.
