My phone will not ring and the volume is up all the way and notifications is on it will only vibrate

I have a Iphone 6s and it will not ring only vibrate and the volume is up and notifications is on

Made sure of that first ,it is in the ringer position .Will try turning it off for a few minutes now .

This is something obvious but also easily overlooked -- did you check the ring/silent switch on the side of the phone to see if it is set to silent?

The same thing happens to my phone 6s, it usually works again (not always) after I've restarted my phone.
