Facebook videos blurry after update to macOS 10.13.1

Videos in my Facebook newsfeed will not display or run in Safari on my MacBook Pro. Photos display as usual, but videos don't. Videos work just fine on my iPad 2. On my MacBook Pro, I see just a blurry image. The play button does not respond. This problem started this afternoon after I updated my MacBook Pro to macOS 10.13.1. The problem does not occur with non-Facebook pages, so I think this may be a Facebook/macOS issue.

For what it's worth, I've shared this report with Facebook.

MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2016, 4 TBT3), macOS Sierra (10.12.6)

Added: I wrote this post while running on battery. Immediately after I posted, I plugged the MacBook in to charge (it was down to 4%), and now videos run as usual. I can't help thinking that running on a low battery had something to do with this problem ... ? Thoughts, anyone?

More: After a few minutes, the problem returned, even when running on AC power. Weird, huh?

I fixed this problem this afternoon while fixing yet another problem. (See my post here: MacBook Pro 2016 sound output stuck on Airplay.) Apple Support—in the person of "James"—was superb.
