How to I see all my unnamed faces in High Sierra?

I just updated to High Sierra, but I am looking for the unnamed photos so I can name my recent photos. Am I missing it or did they get rid of it? If they got rid of it, does anyone know a smart album to use....can't seem to figure that one out either.

Thanks!

I am using a smart album with these rules -assuming that the name of a person will include at least one vowel:

User uploaded file

This album will show all photos with no named persons, but also include all photos without any persons at all.

I restrict this album to a date range as well, so I can search the most recently imported photos.

It is too late now for you, since et the names faces have vanished from your library. While I have been using El Capitan, where named faces did not sync at all between my devices with iCloud Photo Library I got into the habit to assign a keyword with the name of a person to all named people, in addition to using the Faces tags. The keywords synced between devices. And they are very stable and will survive, when the faces recognition algorithm gets updated.

have over 40K pictures and holiday gifts to work on where I need to look people up. I am so ****** they took that function away. Again, I appreciate your help.

Didn't you say that you want to name your recent photos? then add a rule to the smart album with "date added is after ....".

Thank you. Just got off the phone with Apple and they said the engineers took that option away...so I sent in feedback.

Yes, I thought it is intentional, because the engineers took another essential feature away - the ability to reject faces of strangers or items, that are no face at all by clicking the tiny x on the faces circle. The previous album of unnamed faces if not of much use, if we always have to wade of thousands of photos of strangers and statues or other artwork, when searching for the faces of the people we want to name. It would be like searching a needle in a haystack. Before the High Sierra upgrade the album of unnamed faces in my library had several thousand items that could not be removed other than giving each of them a separate name - stranger 1, stranger 2, statue 1, etc and then hiding these persons. It was hopeless after Apple removed the ability to remove faces of persons not relevant to us. Bringing back the "Unnamed" album will only make sense, if we also get back the ability to remove recognized faces of strangers, so they will no longer show in the "unnamed" album and overlayed on the photos.

Thanks for replying, maryrscott, and that additional info, it really helps! To see unnamed faces in a Smart Album in Photos, go to File > New Smart Album. Then set the Smart Album to match "Person is not" conditions. If that doesn't help you get the desired outcome, contact Apple for further help with Photos on your Mac.

Hi - thank you for your response. I want to find the unnamed ones in one spot, instead of going thru each individual picture at a time. Back in iPhotos you could do a smart album, and the earlier Photos there was a (I think) "Add More Faces" option that showed all unnamed faces within the People "tab" of Photos. Does that make sense??? Thanks!

Hi - Thank you for your response. When I do the Smart Album for "Person is not" the choices don't fit for someone unnamed. There is: favorite, hidden, edited, movie, RAW, panoramic, HDR, Slo-Mo, time lapse, portrait, referenced, tagged with GPS, unable to upload to iCloud. This is infuriating if there is no way to name the unnamed in one spot...because I am now noticing that all of my tags didn't transfer with the update to High Sierra. I use the faces library all time time for projects I do.

If anyone else is as annoyed as I am, go to apple.com/feedback and let them know. Léonie, thank you for your help. It is a work around that is not working for me. It still pulls up pictures with people named, unnamed, and with nothing. I have over 40K pictures and holiday gifts to work on where I need to look people up. I am so ****** they took that function away. Again, I appreciate your help.
