Apps won’t go into folders?

Did a restore of my wife’s iPad into a new one running iOS 11. Some apps auto populated in the dock for some reason, even though they were not on her shortcuts before. No big deal, we dragged them up to the home screen, and then tried to move them to a folder. That’s a big nope. They do some crazy thing where they “pop” (spread out quickly and translucent) when dropped into a folder and then end up back on the home screen. Things like Home and Clips. I deleted and added them again and no joy, anything that was in the dock after the restore does this it seems. Running 11.1.1.

Hi. To move apps into a folder, you first have to get them shaking. Tap/hold any app until they all begin to shake. This takes a little longer than it used to. Then, drag the app to the center of the other app, or folder icon. It needs to be pretty accurately centered.

If you’re like me, you may be trying to drop the app into the folder once it actually opens larger. That’s always been the way it worked before. I found that now I have to release it on the folder in the split second before the folder expands. That has worked every time for me. It just drops it in a seemingly random spot in the folder. But once it’s in, you should be able to drag it where you like within the folder. Not sure how this is a helpful change.
