Single page view in iOS 11 iBooks landscape?

Wondering if anyone has a solution to getting a single page in iBooks in iOS 11 when in landscape instead of two columns. It could do this in older versions but it seems that Apple has removed this for no reason. Reading is very personal and just deciding to get rid of features is bewildering. My wife, who was forced into iOS 11 on a new iPad, is so upset about it that we may be returning the thing.

Hi. In iOS 10, iBooks switched to single column when you made the font larger (using the aA icon). This was a change from previous iOS versions. This appears to have been fixed in iOS 11, but you would prefer the iOS 10 behavior. It looks like all you can do is switch to Scrolling View, which literally reads like a scroll.
