Safari logs me off on my School's Gmail Youtube account.

Hello, I have a gmail account that is ran by my university. I use it to sign in to Youtube/Gmail etc. However, when I close out safari it immediately signs off. This behavior does not happen on Chrome. Is this a gmail account setting or is it Safari? I have OS X High Sierra. Please help me out, thanks!
