Defunct icons in launchpad - High Sierra

I just updated to High Sierra. My launchpad has lots of icons for deleted programs - icons that were not there for Sierra. The command rm ~/Library/Application\ Support/Dock/*.db does not work - the database doesn't exist, and launchpad still has lots of invalid icons. How can I get rid of them? Thanks!

I hopefully have solved my problem. When I had looked in Applications on the sidebar to my finder window, the defunct applications did not show up. When I went to my user folder and looked, there they were. I moved them to trash and they are no longer in my launchpad view. Hope this helps someone else.
