Yes it is. Just plug the phone into the computer, choose to trust this device, and then restore the backup to the new phone.

That is my preferred method of upgrading to a new iPhone. Works a treat.

I just did that for my new X. It worked fine for everything except my music which was not purchased through iTunes. It’s music I ripped years ago and have copied from iPhone to iPhone. But this time, restoring from an iTunes backup of my current phone to my new phone on my pc got everything but the music. Please help.

At the time of backup restore the iOS versions of the both the phones should be similar or higher version of the iOS.

For ex: The old iPhone has iOS ver 11.2 & new iPhone has iOS 11 the restore backup will not work. First upgrade the new iphone to iOS 11.2 and higher to restore your backup of your old iPhone.
