Does turning off iTunes Match affect my iCloud Music Library?

Hi,

So I have had iTunes Match for two years and recently got Apple Music. I was wondering if I should keep iTunes Match or let it expire. Also when it expires, will my entire library have to be rescanned? Would my iCloud Music Library be affected or is it fine because I have an active Apple Music subscription?

iTunes Match features are largely included in your Apple Music subscription so you shouldn’t need both. Since iTunes Match and Apple Music both use iCloud Music Library, I would assume that everything would remain the same, without the need to rescan your library.

I would however as a precaution advise that all your songs have been downloaded from iCloud onto your computer and that you back up your iTunes library, but as long as your Apple Music subscription is active when you iTunes Match expires, the transition should be automatic.

I was in the same situation and with the advice from Apple support I kept both iTunes Match and Apple Music running concurrently. The reason was that I have a lot of music in my family library that is not able to be matched with the iCloud Music Library provided through iTunes - music recorded from radio broadcasts or from very obscure albums or CDs - which through iTunes Match have been uploaded to iCloud so it is available on all my devices.

I was told that Apple Music provides a different service - it allows me to listen and add to my library anything available via Apple Music. If I stopped my subscription to iTunes Match then those obscure tracks not commercially available through iTunes would no longer to be accessible on all my devices. I therefore decided to continue subscribing to both services.

So it depends on the makeup of your own music library - if it is mostly albums that are available via Apple Music or you are happy for any rarer tracks not to be available on all your devices and computers, then just use Apple Music. But backing up your iTunes library before subscribing or stopping a service is recommended,

Well, Apple Support told me otherwise when I first enquired whenApple Music was launched - I definitely needed to keep both subscriptions running. But I've just delved into an article on iMore which states that Apple now has rolled iTunes Match into Apple Music so that, yes, you're right. I've now got the take the plunge and stop paying for iTunes Match, relying on just Apple Music. I'm going to back up my library just in case.

I have been dealing with a couple of issues with Apple and iTunes and the out of date email addresses that are residing in my iCloud account. I think it’s a crying shame that you can’t call customer support & get the answers & support you need, due to the lack of training and unfortunately lack of skills to “problem solve”. You should not have to going to these boards and try to find the answer for yourself When you pay as much as you do for the equipment that we do and the software that we use and expect it to be supported by knowledgeable customer service agents. The reason why the author of these facts know more about the apple system then the people paid to help us is that the phone support personnel or barely trained to answer questions that they are given the question and answers from the original release. If your question Doesn’t appear on, or isn’t worded the way it does... then due to their fundamental lack of system programming, You’ll get the same answers that I’ve gotten in that range is from “that can’t be done “all the way to what ever they can dream up to answer to get you off the phone knowing that they’re not going to have to be responsible for what was said as long as there are three p you’ll get the same answers that I’ve gotten in that range is from “that can’t be done “all the way to what ever they can dream up to answer to get you off the phone knowing that they’re not going to have to be responsible for what was said as long as They
