Question: Better battery life from wireless keyboard with bluetooth dongle?

My 2011 iMac uses Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and I wonder if I got a USB dongle compatible with a more recent version of Bluetooth if I might gain better battery life?

I don't know what version of Bluetooth the MC184LL/B model is compatible with, but all the dongles on Amazon seem to be v4.0 compatible.

Any thoughts on achieving this please?

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1), 16GB RAM, late 2011

I would have assumed that as the Bluetooth versions increased so did efficiency and so less effort would equate to greater battery longevity?

I don't suppose you definitively know what version of Bluetooth is used in the A1314 MC184LL/B keyboard?
