IPad bluetooth keyboard, mail backspace key

Am I the only person that cannot delete mail from the iPad mail app any more since IOS 11.1.1 using the backspace key of my Apple Bluetooth Keyboard?

The backspace key works well in other apps or in Mail when editing text, it‘s just that I cannot delete mail any more using it. Nothing happens when I press it, I have to use the touch keyboard. Other keyboard shortcuts like Shift-Cmd-J for junk mail still work, though.

It looks like a big in Apple Mail to me. Sometimes, deleteing mails with the backspace key simply doesn‘t work on iPad - after some time it starts working again - then it stops again, probably at the next connection to the keyboard.
