iPhone 8 flash getting really hot

Just recently noticed that the flash on iPhone gets really hot when I use it as a torch at full brightness, you can tell if you keep your finger over it for a few seconds you will feel it getting warmer and warmer, never happened with my iPhone 6. Is this normal?
