iPhone X - Apps sometimes not opening (blank background)

So I've had my X for just over a week now and generally it works really well.

One thing thats really starting to annoy me though is how often I open an app and it just gives me a completely blank screen (with the "home screen" background visible).

I've tried waiting and it never loads, the only option is to swipe up and clear all my open apps and go back and open the original app.

This isn't happening to just 3rd party apps too. It's the same for Photo's for example, Calendar has done it and even contacts. Its basically affecting everything,

Ordinarily I wouldn't mind but when you pay so much for a phone and your previous iPhone 7 performed better, it kind of leaves a bitter taste!

Any ideas?
