Since High Sierra update-my Mac keeps dropping bluetooth speaker pairing. Any suggestions welcome?

Since my upgrade to High Sierra last week-my Mac keeps losing pairing with my bluetooth speaker. I have carefully followed the bluetooth sound preference guides and am able to restore the pair-but connection is lost again when device goes into sleep mode.
