Remove Android file transfer

I've just been to my "least used apps" screen using Launchpad and was taken aback to find a little green man there. His name is Android file transfer; I didn't invite him in and he never had the courtesy to ask if you could come on board. I want rid of him, permanently.

And that's where the real trouble starts. He doesn't show up in my Applications folder, but is identified as an Application when I do a Spotlight search. CTRL Click launches him without providing the option of deleting, and he just bounces back when dragged to the trash.

Please can anyone tell me how to kill him off, and, even better, tell me how to stop him coming back?

Thanks

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

Those sites came up when I searched for an answer but they don't work since the app doesn't show in my Applications folder, meaning there is nothing to delete at the last stage of the suggested manual delete sequence. However, it does "show" as present when I do a Spotlight search. Also it keeps coming back to the Start Up menu.

I'd be interested if you had any ideas why the cursed thing is there in the first place as I have no Android devices, and avoid Google like the plague (I use Duck Duck Go as search engine).
