My dock is shifting position

The dock on my iPad air is moving off to the left side. After a days use the left most icons in the dock are off screen. Obviously the more apps are in the dock, the sooner it will happen.

A reboot brings everything back to normal, but after a while it starts moving again.

I have tried a "reset all settings", no success. Turning off recent apps does not help either.
