Flash Player

I was prompted, about a week ago, to update Flash Player.

I thought it was legitimate. Once I did that I found out that Safari had been replaced by something called "anysearchmanager.com". I'm pretty sure I uninstalled anysearchmanager, but .....

- How do I get Safari back? Every time I click on Safari I still get this anysearchmanager as my search engine.

- What anti-virus software does Apple recommend?

No AV product for Mac has been found to be much more than useless and in many cases disruptive and obtrusive. For OS X avoid them, at this time they do nothing but cause problems.

reset Safari on Mac by launching it while holding down the SHIFT key

if you think your system has malware or adware I suggest you use

malwarebytes for mac and/or etrecheck

www.malwarebytes.com

http://www.etrecheck.com

flash should only ever be downloaded from Adobe.com, there is no exception to this. If you are going to sites that offer paid content for free you can expect the majority of flash install prompts to be scam trying to get you to facilitate the install of malware for them. At all cost; avoid these types of sites.
