Question: installing a 2010 macbook pro sata hd in a 2012 macbook pro

Was thinking about getting a 2012 MacBook Pro. I now have a 2010 MacBook Pro. Is it possible to

just change out the SATA hard drive in the 2010 and put it into the 2012? Also is the ram interchangeable?

MacBook Pro, macOS High Sierra (10.13.1)

Thanks, I was hoping that would be the case.. Just put a clean install of High Sierra on the 2010 I have now. It will be

faster to swap out the HD rather than reinstall software on a different MacBook Pro. I just be sure to get one with at least 8 gig of ram and no retina.

Agreed, though I would note that since the 2012 is newer, its HD will likely have less wear and tear on it (unless your 2010 HD is newish also) and may live longer than your current drive.

Also, 2012 13" and 15" non-retina models support 16GB of RAM should you want to increase it now or in the future 🙂
