MBP 15" 2016 - no 96 kHz when headphones plugged in

I'm using my MBP a lot for audioproduction when I'm traveling . On all former MBPs I could use the 96 kHz samplerate without issue ... now on this model this is only possible when nothing is plugged into the headphone-jack . As soon as I plug my analog headphones my choice is reduced to 44 or 48 kHz.

Why is that? Anyone else having this issue?
