Finding old calendar events

I am trying to look for past events in my calender on my 6s. The search function only shows a about about a year of events. When I manually scroll the event view I can find around two years of events When looking at the monthly view I can see the dots indicating that there are events there, I am unable to see what the were?!

I sync all events already and am using the current iOS. Any other suggestions?
