After upgrading to High Sierra, I inadvertently trashed everything in the Recents Folder because I didn't realize that it replace the All My Files folder. How will that affect my files? Is there any magical solution to fixing my huge mistake?

Solved the problem! When I went into the older Time Machine backups, it allowed me to do a search, so I typed in "All My Files". Miraculously, there they were. It was a tedious task, but I got them all copied and into a folder on my hard drive. Now, I'm wondering if it will be okay to put them in the newer Recents folder in the new system.

Not sure if you understood my question. I recovered the All My Files from a Time Machine backup. There are 11,000+ files-- can I copy them to the Recents folder. One of the other techs told me that Recents replaced All My Files.

You don't put anything in Recents (or even the older, "All My Files" folder). Those are search folders which find files based on a pre-determined criteria and show you the results.
You should put the recovered files back in the appropriate folders you had the files stored in previously like "Documents," "Desktop," "Music," "Pictures," etc.
To quickly access all of your files, click Recents in the Finder sidebar. All the files on your Mac and in iCloud Drive are added to Recents automatically.
You can’t add or remove files from Recents. The folder is updated automatically when you create or get new files, or when you remove files from your Mac or iCloud Drive.

If they are still in your Trash, put them back. If not, do you have a backup?
Did you commonly delete all the files in All My Files, also?
Open trash bin from the dock if there are multiple files select them ( use keys command and A on the keyboard ) , right click on them and click on put back .
Sadly, no backup from the new system, and no, I didn't commonly delete all the files in All My Files. I only have backups from the older system,
I stupidly emptied the trash after I put all the files from Recents in the trash.
Need to search some third party software on the internet .
If these are system files don't delete them as are important for the Mac , if they are some images or some documents its your choice to drag and drop them under iCloud section folders .
YEs, that's the folder I'm wondering if I can put the recovered files.
