when sending a photo using the mail app (ios 11.1.1) the heic file is not being converted to joeg and therefore the recipitent cannot view the image, i thought this was automatic, any known fix?

Thanks for your reply, having reading the article, the following confirms something is not working correctly

"When you share HEIF or HEVC media using other methods, such as AirDrop, Messages, or email, it's shared in a more compatible format, such as JPEG or H.264."

When i share the image via the mail app, it is nopt being shared in the compatible format, it is still being attached as a HEIC file and therefore the recipient cannot view the file
