Why does my macbook suddenly have Other as an user account?

Why does my macbook suddenly have Other as an user account when I did not authorize such thing nor do I have guest account enabled?

It does not show up in the list of user accounts nor the top-right drop-down menu when you click on your username. Therefore I cannot delete/remove it.

My wife has had Find My Mac enabled for weeks and this has suddenly appeared today. She and I have been and are still both administrators with our own passwords to login into our accounts.

I have had all the location services on my end off and are still. I don't know about her end except that she has Find My Mac on, and has been like that for weeks without problem.

FileVault and Firewall were already on and still are.

"Allow apps downloaded from: App Store and identified developers" was on instead of just "App Store" so I just changed that but the problem is still here.

We have had this computer since June/July.

I already had Two-Factor Authentication on for my iCloud.

I had Power Nap on and I am turning that off now. (when compared to default settings)

"Prevent Computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off." was On. (when compared to default settings)

"Put hard disks to sleep when possible." was Off. (when compared to default settings)

I reverted my Energy Saver settings to default (where it says to revert to default settings) on both Battery and Power Adaptor.

I changed my Mac password just after I noticed this problem.

It seems to disappear when I restart the macbook and only appear when resuming from Sleep.

Unfortunately, what you said to do didn't work, because in step 7 what it says to do doesn't appear on my Directory Utility window/menu. I tried clicking the little icon that looks like a writing utensil I assume means edit, and other areas of the Directory Utility window/menu and didn't find anything that says Enable or Disable Root User.

Well, if you clicked on anything but the Edit menu, you would not have seen it. If you didn't unlock the padlock at the bottom of the window, you also would not have seen it.

If yours looks like this screenshot, then that wasn't the problem.

When is Apple gonna fix this bug in a new update?

Nobody here would know the answer to that question.

Perhaps that's why it wasn't a required update?

It wasn't an "update," required or not. It was a new Operating System.

And how would I know if anything within the root user got changed?

I've only been having problems/bugs like this ever since updating to High Sierra from regular Sierra. Perhaps that's why it wasn't a required update? And I don't think I can revert to the previous version because I didn't backup to an external hard drive or another computer.

Ah, I didn't even notice the tiny stuff at the top of the screen. Thanks it worked! Hopefully there won't be any more glitches but at least this one was solved, I think. It hasn't reappeared since.

My computer still shuts down while I'm afk sometimes though. But that doesn't bother me much because it's not a security issue like this one was.

Funny this "root" thing is like a secret room in the castle. lol. Thank you.
