USB Port Disabled 2014 MacBook Pro

Getting the USB Port Disabled warning message all of the sudden after my recent upgrade to High Sierra. My 2014 MacBook pro has two ports. When I work on music in Logic Pro X, or Ableton, I typically plug in an Arturia Midi device in one port, and an audio interface in the other port. Neither external device has ever caused this problem in the past. Now, one of the ports is creating the warning message. Tests conducted: I plugged various devices into each of the two ports - they all work on the left side, but the one on the right is generating this message no matter what I plug into it. Some power is getting to the external devices from the port because as I tested each one, they show "partial" signs of connection like blinking lights. Also performed three SMC resets to no avail. Does this sound like a purely mechanical issue? I would be tempted to think otherwise after reading multiple forums. Appreciate any help given.
