Remember if you purchase the iPhone in the U.S. but live in a different country, the iPhone will generally not be serviceable by Apple or Authorized Apple Service Centers outside the country of purchase. And the warranty (and AppleCare, if you purchase it) are only honored in the country of purchase. (The EU counts as one country for this discussion.)

Check every morning and hope you can get one. No one knows when the unlocked version will show up but in the meantime if you purchase the T-Mobile version from an Apple Store it is not locked.
