Undesired auto-cropping of footage

Hello,

I'm creating a video using a custom resolution (768 x 64). My goal is to move the clip from bottom to top by changing the Position values and keyframes. I was able to do this initially with no issues using the same clips.

Unfortunately now when I try to do this the video is missing above and below the edges of my frame, as if it were cropped to 768x64 instead of remaining at full resolution (1920x1080) behind my frame.

Not sure if it's relevant, but the clip I'm referencing is a compound clip. I've also been adjusting the speed, reversing and adding effects using ColorFinale Pro and other native FinalCut effects.

Thanks for any help!

Yes, it is very relevant, AFAICT.

It sounds like your compound clip is 768 x 64, which is normal if you just selected something from the project timeline and made a compound from there.

First, do you need a compound clip? If you do, then you want to make sure that the compound has all the 1080p content. You could prepare this by either creating the compound straight from the browser, or by making an auxiliary 1080p project and making a compound from there. Either way, then you can drop the compound on your custom size project and work with its full size.

Hi Luis, thanks for your reply.

I do need it to be a compound clip. The original file is only 24 seconds, so I'm stitching 20 or 25 of them together to create a 10 minute version. With this compound clip I can change speed, position, color over time, etc.

I'll use the original 1080 video to make a compound clip, then put that into the custom frame(s).
