Playing a video on iPad

I transferred a small video that I made to my iPad (iOS 11). At least I think I was successful copying it. But no apps seem to find it. I assume the TV app is what is supposed to play it. Clearly I'm doing something wrong. How do I get a video file from my Mac onto the iPad so I can watch it? I don't want to sync anything, I don't use iCloud and I don't care about watching movies or TV shows. I just want to transfer and watch 1 simple home made video. Why is it so difficult?

Thanks

Thanks for replying. I opened iTunes and connected the iPad. I dragged the video file into iTunes and it copied to the iPad.

This morning when I opened the TV app, suddenly the file was there. I don't understand why it didn't show right away when I copied it. But apparently I did it right after all.
