Mac OS / iOS Notes notifications not working.

I recently started sharing notes with my Fiancé. I am supposed to be alerted when any changes are made in one of the shared notes, however I am never alerted. For example me and my Fiancé have shared Christmas lists, and it would be nice if I was alerted when she added or changed something. I have tried messing with the notification settings on both my mac as well as my iPhone (In the settings app, as well as the notes app itself). All devices are updated to the latest OS, and still there is notifications. I believe this may be a bug in the OS. Please let me know if anyone is experiencing similar issues, and if you know of any fixes.
