Question: What is this weird scroll bar doing in my screen

Hi guys,

I just noticed that on my second screen (Dell) there a little black bar near my dock that resembles a scroll bar, and it doesn't do anything nor will it go away (see image; on the right, just between 'textWrangler' and 'Downloads').

Do you know what it is and how to get rid of it?

Answer:

Is anything downloading? There is normally a progress bar under Downloads while downloading but it clears when the operation is complete, and your little stranger looks very much like a progress bar. Have you tried putting the external to sleep? Sometimes sleep will clear odd artifacts.
