I've been experiencing problems in the chat area for technical support for all Apple products. I'm entering text, and then mid sentence, I cannot enter anymore text. I have to get my mouse and click back on the text box to continue to enter text. When I look over the chat transcript they send me after the chat is over, I see this code repeated each time the error occurs. This is the code ' - Today when I was looking up info about an app I had downloaded from the App store on my AppleTV 4th Gen, and I found that code on that webpage also. I think this is a little strange. Here are the screenshots of the two places I found this error code. The first screenshot is from a transcript of an Apple Chat. The second screenshot is from a webpage.

is the html code for an apostrophe. So all that's happening there is the browser or whatever isn't rendering it correctly, or the person who made the web page hasn't set ii up right.

So this:

don&#39t

should simply read don't...

It has nothing to do with you hopping out of the text box. That's most likely caused by accidental contact with your track pad, if you have one, or some similar reason.

I don't have a track pad. I'm typing on a magic keyboard. Suddenly I cannot enter any text, and have to move the cursor back to the box to enter further text. When I get the transcript of the chat, every time that I am kicked out of the text box, is where that code appears. OMG! I went back and looked at the transcripts of all the chats, and every time I tried to type an apostrophe is where the cursor jumped out of the text box. Thanks for the info about the html code.

OK Terence, Thanks for your information. I went back to chat with Apple Care and sometimes when I tried to type an apostrophe, I was not kicked out of the text box, and the apostrophe showed up in the chat as an apostrophe and not the code. But when the transcript arrived in my inbox, every apostrophe is entered as the code. So that's something on Apple's end. However, there were other times when I was kicked out of the text box and this time the html code did not appear in the transcript when I was kicked out of the text box. We are trying to figure out why since installing High Sierra 10.13.1 that I have errors when I try to Chat with Apple Care Technical Support. I have used Apple Chat since purchasing my iMac in 2015, and this is the first that I have had this error when using chat.
