damaged application packages

My High Sierra install went fine but when I rebooted my computer the next day almost all the application, both MacOS and third party, had damaged packages.

Using a late 2013 MacBook Pro which is supposed to be compatible and upgrading from Sierra.

Forced to reinstall from a TM backup since App Store app was also damaged, preventing download of a new High Sierra installer.
