MacBook Pro screen reawakening

Hi,

I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports) running Sierra 10.12.6. At night I like to listen to podcasts with the screen dark, which I did without issue with my previous MacBook Pro. I play a podcast on iTunes, and tap the brightness down key until the screen is dark.

This new MacBook will remain dark for ~3-5 minutes, then the screen comes back on again. I tap the brightness down once more, and after a few more minutes, it comes on again. Now it seems that any key I touch will send it back to a dark screen. After these two times, it doesn't come on again, as far as I can tell.

Any ideas what might be causing this behavior? Thanks!
