My MacBook Problem

Hi I have a refurbished MacBook Pro late 2011, i7 core, 4 gb of ram, and a I TB of HDD. I recently upgraded to Mac OS High Sierra, and the install was successful, but when I got into the home screen and logged in, it was extremely slow, and it froze, I gave it a half an hour before shutting down and restarting, then a circle with a line through it popped up, I troubleshooted and I opened MacOS Utilities, Unlocked and supposedly mounted my hard drive, restarted and it looked hopeful, it asked me for my password like normal. However once it was done loading It simply shut down, and I went back into the Utilities and ran First Aid and it said it could not be performed, I am taking it in to the store tommarow but I would like to hear the communities feed back please.
