Siri has become buggy since iOS 11

Siri is behaving very strange since the last iOS update. When I do a search for anything Siri comes back with an odd string of text which it verbally says. This happens with everything I do, for example if I ask it directions it will say something like " $ underscore asterix", then repeats my search term. Also the map app has gone completely crazy with gibberish followed by my search terms.

It is as if it is drunk and is saying a bunch of gibberish before it reports its findings on my search whether it is a web search, map search, music search etc. 😕

Hi Jeffersonp,
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Based on what you are describing (multiple issues with system-level functions like Siri and Map search, starting after a recent update), you may want to try reinstalling a fresh copy of iOS to help resolve (or at least rule out) any system software issues. Once iOS is reinstalled, you will want to test and see if the issues persist or return. The process is outlined in the following article under the section "If your device turns on but gets stuck during start up" (the article itself is aimed at a slightly different issue, but the steps outlined are still applicable in this case):

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't turn on or is frozen - Apple Support

Note: While this process generally shouldn't affect your data or settings, it's always best to have a full backup of your data just in case. If you haven't recently backed up your device, you may also find this article helpful:
