Question: icloud indesign files will not open

Hello. When I try to open Adobe InDesign files saved from my iCloud drive, I get the following error message:

"Cannot open "filename". The file "filename" is damaged. (Error code: 4)

This happens whether I try to open the file directly from iCloud or if I download the file to my desktop. The file is not corrupt, I can open it easily from the laptop where the file was created.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

iMac, macOS High Sierra (10.13.1)
