mac pro enters sleep mode or turns off

Just upgraded to High Sierra (10.13.1) with Late-2013 Mac Pro and since the upgrade, the mac turns off by itself.

Have checked energy saver settings and they are the same as before the upgrade (Prevent computer from sleeping is checked, wake for network access is checked, and enable power nap is checked. Have turn display off after 1 hour set with a screen saver set for 15 minutes).

Checked support recommendations and reset NVRAM. About two hours later the computer locked with the screen saver picture frozen on the display.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Hi handsubman,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. I understand since updating your Mac to macOS High Sierra, you're having trouble with the Mac turning off by itself. I also see that shortly after resetting the NVRAM, the Mac froze on the screensaver. I know it's important to rely on your Mac to operate as expected and I'd like to help. First, I'd recommend following the steps here to start your Mac in Safe Mode: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

Take some time to see if the issue occurs while booted in Safe Mode and then restart your Mac normally.

If you continue to have trouble, use the steps here to use First Aid in Disk Utility: Repair a disk

Best Regards.

Joe_7399,

Thanks for the recommendation. Was away on travel for the week and my wife did not have one shut down of the Mac. Before leaving, I had adjusted the screen saver settings to turn display off at 10 minutes. Not sure why that would make a difference.

I will keep your recommendations handy and ready for any recurrence.

Thanks again,
