Question: preview crashes when the a pdf file gets shorter

I use to look at the pdf output files with preview. Preview has the advantage over other viewers that it refreshes the view. That is, I do not have to reopen the file after a compilation.

HOWEVER: If the number of pages of the updated document is smaller than the number of the page currently displayed by preview, it crashes. I guess it should be pretty straightforward to cure this simply by telling preview to jump to the last page of the document if the above situation arises.
