I want to be able to download my pictures on iCloud to my windows 10 pc easily

I've been using iCloud and have ~ 30,000 photos on it. I'd like to be able to download photos to my hard drive as a backup.

I'm looking for a foolproof easy way to do this. Have talked to support several times and still can't do it easily.

See the "Import to your PC" section in:

Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

or see the "How do I download all of my photos and videos to my Windows PC?" section in:

Get help with iCloud Photos on your Windows PC - Apple Support

Once you have the photos on your PC (using either technique), I would make a copy of them (the entire folder) and store the copy on an external or thumb drive.
