iOS Screen Record Fails while using Airplay Mirroring

While mirroring my iPad Pro display to an Apple TV via Airplay, the screen recording function in iOS 11(11.1.1) appears to initiate and then fails. I get the 3-2-1 countdown, and then nothing. No recording. No error message.

Use case: A math teacher uses Noteability on an iPad Pro with Apple Pencil to work out math problems in front of students while displaying the iPad screen to the large projection screen via Airplay to AppleTV. Being able to do a screen recording simultaneously allows for the teaching to be captured for student review and also for absent students.

iPad Pro Wi-Fi, iOS 11.1

Hi. Please suggest this to Apple at this link: Feedback - iPad - Apple.

However, I believe mirroring and screen recording use the same graphics chip software to create a video stream from the frame buffer. So it may be a little complicated for an iPad to do both at once.
