Question: 2017 iMac Unknown Kernal Panic

I recently purchased a new 2017 iMac and upgraded to Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.1. Since updating, I've been experiencing consistent kernel panics and I'm unsure what's causing them. I've tried to reopen the app responsible when prompted, but nothing opens. I've included one of the reports below. Can anyone tell me what the cause may be? Thank you.

Either replace its originally installed memory, or run Apple Diagnostics. Sometimes faulty memory will pass AD though, because it is not possible to test memory for specification compliance using the same machine on which it's installed.

If the Mac's originally installed RAM doesn't KP or if the Crucial RAM fails Apple Diagnostics have Crucial replace it. They have a lifetime guarantee.

I have had the same issue with my new 2017 iMac, which I received a couple months ago. Mine came with 8 gigs ram but added 32 of OWC (MacSales) ram. I actually had 3 kernal panics within about 10 mins then I might go a day with none. I work a lot in FCPX, On1 Raw, etc.

I also added 32 GB of RAM to my iMac from OWC. I called them and described the problems I was experiencing to one of their customer service representatives. After our discussion, I tried placing the RAM modules in different memory slots, resetting the SMC, resetting the PRAM and even reinstalling MacOS High Sierra 10.13.1, but the kernel panics still persisted. My iMac was also briefly waking at all hours of the day/night for no apparent reason. I called OWC again and they happily sent me replacement RAM. I installed the new RAM on Friday (November 17th) and have had absolutely no kernel panics or strange waking behavior since. I think it's also worth mentioning that the built-in Apple Diagnostics software found nothing wrong with the RAM, but now I'm sure that it was in fact the problem. Fingers crossed that there are no more issues!

for me I thought it was either the 32 gigs ram I purchased from OWC or the DROBO. I disconnected the DROBO but I still had 3 kernel panics in about a 15 min period. I had purhased a USB 3.0 7 port hub from Amazon (Amazon Basics) and removed that. Since then I have had any more panics or software crashes. I'll wait a few more days and if I do have more kernal panics, I'll get in touch with OWC like you did. BTW, I did all the same things you did initially. Moved the ram, reinstall, etc. I'm glad you have your issue resovled. Hope mine is. I can tell you I got the iMac with the i7, the 8gig vram card and the 512 SSD. I can't believe how fast this system is compared to my 6 year old iMac which was also loaded.

Now I'm going to have to try purchasing another USB 3.0 hub that might work with no Kernal Panics
