How do I get version of garage band for iPad 2
Is there a garage band or similar app available for iPad 2 , I understand there is but can not find one

What version of iTunes do you have installed? If you're using iTunes 12.6.3.6 or earlier then it should be possible to acquire the app to your account in iTunes, then download the last compatible version to the device from the purchased section of the app store on the device.
If you're already running a newer build then it is possible to temporarily install iTunes 12.6.3.6 (download links here), connecting it to a new empty library, get the app, then revert to your current version and library. Windows users need to uninstall the main iTunes application before attempting a downgrade.
