When backing up to Seagate on my Mac get error 13 or error 2 endlessly

- I'm trying to back up my Mac to my Seagate and get endless Something went wrong messages quoting error 13 or error 2. I have hit "skip this file" about 50 times already. This happened right after the new Apple update and I'm wondering if that's the problem? How to fix?
