I use a time capsule for remotely backing up my MacBook Pro using time machine. Useuablly it just backs up new data in the background.
Yesterday I looked at the info, and it was backing up 700gb+ which basically seems like all the data it's been asked to backup!
I've never seen it do this before and was wondering if I should be concerned for its health?

Try a reset.
See pages 28 and 29. Using Airport Utility (page 29), I don’t see the options the manual says are there. I have done a reset and a full reset (page 28) many times and it has always straightened out the Time Capsule.

I haven't a seen that no. I have t actually received any error message or notification telling me to create a new backup. It's just where it normally says 'backing up 3gb of data' it's now says 'backing up 700gb of data' and it just seemed very odd
Guessing something's got corrupt perhaps?

Hi, I think my time capsule drive may be faulty as it's no longer backing up remotely :(. Is it worth me trying to erase it and Try again? I've only had it 2 years and would have hoped it would have lasted longer :-/

thanks - yes I reset and it SEEMS to have done the trick (at least for now). I think this had brought up another question in my head though... is there any way to verify TM backups to see if they're all present and correct? After all this I'm not 100% confident that the data is all as it should be :-/

You are welcome. Hold down the option/alt key while clicking the Time Machine icon in the menu bar and select Verify Backups. This will check to make sure the backup files are okay. It doesn't check to make sure everything is there. The only way to check to make sure everything is backed up is to enter Time Machine and do a manual check. That really isn't practical.
