My in-built trackpad on my macbook pro is working fine but in settings it says "No trackpad found". Can't change or set up gestures for trackpad anymore. HELP!!!!

So...I'm keeping my old MacBook Pro (15" mid 2010 2.66GHz i7 variant) for home needs & testing purposes. The battery was swollen, rather than replacing, I decided to just remove it & keep using it on power cord. Just a while ago I was setting up another user account & I realised that the "Trackpad" option in preference pane which use to show gestures & speed settings for my inbuilt trackpad is now showing "No trackpad found' as shown in picture. In my old account everything woks as I settled it up but can no longer change the gesture as it's the same story there. Tried SMC, NVRAM, even terminal command for enabling different gestures but nothing seems to work. Is there a work around or way to solve it by myself? The nearest apple store is like 100 miles away from my place & can't really make the trip as of now. Anyone have the same issue? How to solve this? & no I've never used external keyboard or trackpad with this machine ever nor am I planning to get one.
