My keyboard started typing numbers alongside any letter I press in the top row. Thought maybe i'd got it wet. So i changed the keyboard for another one from work and it is still doing it. I've tried restoring default keyboard settings but to no avail. Below is me pressing each key on the qwerty row (no numbers).

Does the problem persist in safe mode? Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support
Thanks for replying - wouldn't start in Safe Mode as my shift keys don't seem to be working.
Tried doing it via Terminal but it wouldn't work either.
