FCPX is running very slowly after upgrade to High Sierra.

After upgrading to High Sierra my FCPX is running very slowly, not playing the timeline properly and generally being very slow. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm using an iMac (late 2012) 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2 GB.
