IPhone X intermittently not sending SMS, anyone help with why?

Hi, I’ve had my iPhone X less than 24 hrs and I’ve noticed most SMS messages I send to my partner (has an Android device) come back with message not sent error. I hit resend and it’s then delivered. Other people I’ve messaged have iMessage and there’s been no problem at all. Can anyone help me with why my SMS fail first time?

I always have plenty of signal etc. Thanks

SMS is a carrier feature, you have to ask them about it.
