iphone 6 known battery problem but not on list for replacement.

I have the iphone 6. It keeps shutting down and restarting, even when charged to 100%. I can read an email, but the battery indicator drops to 2% and shuts off. My phone is no longer under warranty. If this is a known problem why wouldnt it be covered for free?
