After installing HighSierra, the disk utility option to erase and reformat a MS-DOS thumb drive as "master bootable record" has disappeared. Is this option (needed for a music stick in my car) still available somewhere in the disk utility app?

While in Disk Utility, change the View to Show All Devices. Then you can select the drive media instead of the volume underneath to erase and change the Partition Map Scheme.
